What to weigh before buying

Tiers span public B1 wards through private hospitals

GREAT SupremeHealth is offered across multiple tiers — from restructured-hospital B1 cover (GSH B Plus) up to private-hospital and partnering-institution cover (GSH P Plus / P Prime) — giving flexibility as needs change.

Integrated Shield Plan, not a replacement for MediShield Life

GREAT SupremeHealth sits on top of the compulsory MediShield Life scheme. The MediShield Life portion is administered by the CPF Board; the additional private cover is underwritten by the insurer.

MediSave can fund part of the premium

Part of the IP premium can be paid from MediSave up to the age-banded Additional Withdrawal Limit published by the CPF Board. Premium above the limit is payable in cash. Verify the current limit on cpf.gov.sg.

Riders carry a co-payment under MAS guidance

Riders sold since 2021 carry a minimum co-payment under MAS guidance, so the policyholder always pays a share of the bill. Confirm the specific rider terms in the wording.

Where it tends to suit buyers

  • Buyers who value a long-established Singapore insurer with a multi-decade renewal history
  • Households who want tier flexibility from public B1 wards through private hospitals
  • Buyers comparing a partnering-institution tier (P Prime) against full private-hospital cover (P Plus)

Where to look closely

  • The P Prime tier limits you to partnering medical institutions — check the provider list matches your preferred hospitals
  • Renewal premiums step up sharply at older ages — true across the IP market

Frequently asked questions

What is GREAT SupremeHealth?

GREAT SupremeHealth is an Integrated Shield Plan offered by The Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Limited. It is built on top of MediShield Life and comes in multiple tiers — GSH B Plus, A Plus, P Plus and P Prime — spanning restructured-hospital B1 wards up to private hospitals. The exact ward-class entitlements are set out in the policy wording.

What is the difference between GSH P Plus and GSH P Prime?

GSH P Plus covers all private hospitals and day-surgery centres plus all restructured hospitals and providers. GSH P Prime covers all partnering medical institutions and partnering day-surgery centres plus all restructured hospitals and providers. The wording sets out the precise provider networks for each tier.

Is GREAT SupremeHealth approved for MediSave use?

Yes. GREAT SupremeHealth is an Integrated Shield Plan, so part of the premium can be paid from your MediSave account up to the age-banded Additional Withdrawal Limit published by the CPF Board. Any premium above that limit is payable in cash. Confirm the current limit on cpf.gov.sg.

Do I need a rider with GREAT SupremeHealth?

A rider is optional. Riders can absorb part of the deductible and co-insurance the main plan would otherwise leave you to pay, but riders sold since 2021 carry a minimum co-payment under MAS guidance. You can hold GREAT SupremeHealth without a rider.

How do I verify that Great Eastern is regulated?
